BizMobile Selected as Great Place to Work® and Makes the 2021 Best Workplaces Japan List!

BizMobile Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) : Yoshihiro Obata), has been recognized as a Great Place to Work® and ranked 28th on the 2021 Best Workplaces Japan List for Small Businesses (with 25-99 employees). The List, released annually by Great Place to Work® Institute (GPTW) Japan, surveys, evaluates and grades the employee experience at organizations based on international standards.

GPTW is a research and consulting firm that carries out surveys and assessments, and provides support related to companies that are a Great Place to Work®. It identifies such organizations through its internationally standardized surveys and announces them through the media in countries around the world. Every year, more than five million employees at seven thousand companies in nearly sixty countries participate in the Institute’s employee experience survey, which is the largest in the world.

GPTW defines a Great Place to Work® as a company where a relationship of trust exists between the management and employees, and where employees can fully use their abilities. These organizations also possess outstanding values and leadership and can achieve financial growth through innovation.

The following are some of the ways BizMobile continues to make itself an even better place to work in order to realize its corporate philosophy, “The BizMobile Way.”

1.Working Anytime, Anywhere

From November 2018, long before the COVID-19 pandemic, BizMobile had already implemented its Working Anytime system, a “super-flextime” program without core working time, and its Working Anywhere system, which allows its employees the individual freedom to choose where they do their jobs. With these two systems, BizMobile’s employees, as independent professionals, make their own choices about the best time and place to do their jobs depending on the circumstances. The systems also enable staff to balance work with important private responsibilities as childcare and caregiving.

BizMobile did not implement these systems to encourage its employees to work whenever they want without having to come to the office, but to promote individual decision-making regarding the best work style for the moment while considering their own roles and their teammates’ situations (respecting others’ perspectives).

2.Honolulu Marathon

Since 2017, all BizMobile executives and employees, and outsourced employees who wish to do so, participate in the Honolulu Marathon as part of its business operations. BizMobile holds this symbolic event not as recreation, but to put into practice the values of “Create together, Challenge together, Continue to grow together.” as expressed in “The BizMobile Way.” Participants try to meet self-set physical goals, such as running the marathon in five hours, or just completing it if it is their first time. At the same time, they deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bonds of trust by taking part in activities together during the trip.

3.An Environment That Supports the Desire for Personal Growth

BizMobile also has a variety of programs in place to support employees’ spontaneous self-development. Forty percent of its employees are from overseas, meaning that foreign language is a very important tool for every employee to communicate with co-workers. In response to this, the company has prepared both English language education support programs and Japanese language education support programs for employees for whom one or the other is not their native language.

BizMobile also encourages the development of its staff capabilities through acquisition of specialist knowledge and skills in the following ways:

  1. Subsidies for participating in massive open online courses (MOOCs)
  2. Subsidies for participating in training programs
  3. An employee development allowance for linking personal growth with innovation

The common concept underlying the design of these programs is respect for individual employee’s wishes and desires by enabling them to decide for themselves what and how to learn without the company telling them what to do.

This is BizMobile’s first time to apply to appear on the Great Place to Work® in Japan List and has led to its recognition as one of the best places to work in the country, which is an encouraging result for everyone at the company. Not satisfied to rest on its laurels, it will continue working to become an even better workplace in order to realize “The BizMobile Way.”
